Dr. Joel Batila was born in Maloango-Zau (MICONJE) on OCTOBER 22, 1946. He graduated in medicine in India and practiced as a doctor in France, precisely in Grenoble. Dr. Batila was one of the most prominent figures in the Cabindan nationalist movement and served in various capacities as a member of the Political Bureau of FLEC-FAC and was Coordinator of the Diplomatic Group; Secretary for Foreign Affairs and later Secretary General of FLEC-Unified under the direction of Nzita Tiago. He was later appointed Chancellor of the interim government of Cabinda, created by FLEC under the leadership of Afonso Massanga, a function he held until his death.
His physical disappearance constitutes an irreparable loss for his family and an emptiness that is difficult to fill in for the Cabindan resistance.
The Liberal Forum for the Emancipation of Cabinda is associated with this moment of pain and presents to the mourning family its feelings of sorrow.
