Agostinho Chicaia arrested in Kinshasa (DRC)

Agostinho Chicaia, former chairman of the Civic Association of Cabinda "Mpalabanda," outlawed by the MPLA regime, was arrested by the security forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo on 20 June 2011, at the airport in Kinshasa, while he was in transit to Harare, Zimbabwe.

It is alleged that the detention was ordered by the Angolan Government on the basis of an arrest warrant issued by Luanda to Kinshasa authorities.

Please note that Agostinho Chicaia is regarded as the representative of Angola, appointed by Luanda, in a cross-border project involving Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Congo, based in Pointe Noire, where he lived for almost two years.

Agostinho Chicaia has travelled to Angola and Cabinda without any problems, Angola has good relations with the regimes of the two Congo's (Brazzaville and Kinshasa). So, why the detention of Chicaia in Kinshasa?

The people of Cabinda are once again faced with an enigma of the Luanda regime, and only time will tell the answer to it.
